Why does my well water smell like rotten eggs?

A sulfur smell is usually caused by hydrogen sulfide gas naturally occurring in groundwater or by sulfur-reducing bacteria in your well. This is common in North Houston and treatable with shock chlorination or a filtration system.

How do I know if my well has bacteria?

There are often no visible signs of bacterial contamination. The only way to confirm is through professional water testing, which 77 Water Well recommends annually.

What causes low water pressure in a well system?

Low pressure can be caused by a failing pump, waterlogged pressure tank, clogged pipes, or sediment buildup. Our technicians diagnose and fix the cause quickly.

How often should a private well be inspected?

The National Ground Water Association recommends a professional well inspection at least once every 10 years, with annual water quality testing.

What is well plugging and when is it needed?

Texas State Law requires landowners to plug all abandoned or unused wells to protect the water supply. 77 Water Well Inc. is licensed to handle all well plugging in Texas.

Frequently Asked Questions – Brookshire

How deep is a typical water well in Brookshire, Texas?

Most water wells in Brookshire range between 200 to 500 feet, depending on your property’s elevation and access to the Gulf Coast aquifer. We use professional hydrogeological data to determine the best installation depth and location for your property.

Do I need a permit to install a well in Waller County?

Yes. All water well installation in Waller County requires proper permits and must comply with TCEQ regulations. We handle all the paperwork and ensure full legal compliance before we install.

How long does a well pump last?

Most submersible pumps last between 10 and 15 years. Jet pumps may last slightly less depending on usage. Regular maintenance and keeping sediment out of your system can extend pump life significantly.

What type of maintenance does a well require?

We recommend an annual inspection, water testing, and pressure check to maintain safety and function. Catching small issues early helps prevent major system failures.

Can 77 Water Well test my water and install a filtration system?

Absolutely. We offer certified water testing and install treatment systems tailored to your water chemistry, including reverse osmosis, UV purification, and whole-house filtration systems.
