Why does my well water smell like rotten eggs?

A sulfur smell is usually caused by hydrogen sulfide gas naturally occurring in groundwater or by sulfur-reducing bacteria in your well. This is common in North Houston and treatable with shock chlorination or a filtration system.

How do I know if my well has bacteria?

There are often no visible signs of bacterial contamination. The only way to confirm is through professional water testing, which 77 Water Well recommends annually.

What causes low water pressure in a well system?

Low pressure can be caused by a failing pump, waterlogged pressure tank, clogged pipes, or sediment buildup. Our technicians diagnose and fix the cause quickly.

How often should a private well be inspected?

The National Ground Water Association recommends a professional well inspection at least once every 10 years, with annual water quality testing.

What is well plugging and when is it needed?

Texas State Law requires landowners to plug all abandoned or unused wells to protect the water supply. 77 Water Well Inc. is licensed to handle all well plugging in Texas.

Water Well Plugging in Montgomery, TX — 77 Water Well Inc.

When a water well in Montgomery, TX is no longer needed or has reached the end of its useful life, proper plugging and abandonment is required by Texas law. 77 Water Well Inc. provides licensed well plugging services that comply with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations, protecting groundwater and your property from liability.

Why Proper Well Plugging Matters

An improperly abandoned well can become a direct conduit for surface contaminants to reach the aquifer, posing serious risks to groundwater quality. Texas law requires that abandoned wells be properly plugged by a licensed water well professional to prevent contamination and protect public health.

The Well Plugging Process

Our licensed team removes the pump and all equipment from the well, fills the casing with approved grouting material (typically neat cement or bentonite) from the bottom up, seals the wellhead, and files the required abandonment report with TCEQ. We handle all paperwork and regulatory compliance.

TCEQ Compliance

All well plugging work in Montgomery and throughout Texas must comply with TCEQ Chapter 76 rules. 77 Water Well Inc. is fully licensed and experienced with the regulatory requirements, ensuring your plugging project is completed correctly and documented properly.

When to Plug a Well

Common reasons to plug a well include: the well is no longer in use, you’ve connected to municipal water, the well has failed and replacement isn’t feasible, you’re selling or subdividing property, or the well poses a safety or contamination risk.
